Why does window tint turn purple?
Cheap dye breaks down in the sun. Over time the color shifts and the film looks purple. Here is how to avoid it.
What is happening
Dyed film gets its color from dye. Sunlight and heat break the dye down over time, and with cheap film the color drifts, often toward purple. It is a sign the film is wearing out.
How to avoid it
Pick a better film. We use Hitek film. Classic Black is Hitek's color-stable dyed film, and Carbon IR and Ceramic IR use different technology that is built for stable color. No film lasts forever, but quality matters a lot.
Ask any shop what film they use and whether the warranty is in writing.
If yours is already purple
It will not go back. The old film has to come off before new film goes on.
